"MOZARTISSIMO - SUITES ET PASSIONS"
Gigi CACIULEANU's new production, staged by Dan MASTACAN, has adopted the role of THEATRE WITHIN THE THEATRE. A red curtain occupies the stage, sometimes discretely and sometimes more intrusively. The Artist himself starts the show by opening the curtain. A journey is traced through the works of Mozart (twenty musical extracts from his orchestral works as well as some of his operas - Don Giovanni, Cosi fan tutte). The Abduction from the Seraglio, The Magic Flute. Within the ingenious stage architecture, the dancers create a new scene each time, using a dozen blocks lined up or piled on top of each other. The audience takes part in an initiating journey with Mozart : skillfully conducted ensembles, then duos, solos and trios, displaying the different artistic personalities of 12 soloists, whilst at the same time maintaining their cohesion, in the snow falling from the arches or behind black and white curtains. The artist gives the best of himself to the audience, who are constantly aware of his QUEST. This is a radiant and brilliant work which celebrates life, and finishes with a LAUDAMUS accompanied by an explosion of joyous dancing, a symbol of the artistic condition with all its moving tragedy which can be accepted as long as the audience is happy.
